Penwith Green Fair 2019
20th April 2019
Penwith Green Fair returns to St John’s Hall Penzance this year, with the usual wide variety of stall-holders, music and food.
Community groups, green businesses and environmental organisations will be taking part in this year’s event, which will take place on Easter Saturday (20th April) between 10am and 3.00 pm.
Information and ideas will be available on a number of topics, including health, wildlife protection, food and climate change. New organisations at the event this year include the Penwith Landscape Partnership, which will be showcasing its important work in West Cornwall, as well as the Wheal Buzzy Project, which works to improve habitats for threatened species of solitary bee.
The fair organisers are pleased to welcome back the Cornish Culture Association, and there will be plenty of opportunity to buy cakes, plants and other goods.
The Green Fair, which has been held in Penzance every Easter for over 30 years, brings together in one place most of the local organisations which seek to put green ideas into action.
Jonathan How, a Penzance Town Councillor and one of the event’s organisers, said: “With the recent declaration of a climate emergency by Penzance and many other councils it’s increasingly obvious that what was once regarded as strange and quirky is fast becoming the new normal”.
“We’ll all be living this way in the future,” continued Jonathan, “and the Green Fair is a great opportunity to dip your toe in the water”.
As well as stalls and displays, there will be refreshments from the Penzance Country Market team, and music on offer from local bands including Penzamba (above, at last year’s event), Raffidy Dumitz and Privy Chamber
Admission is free and all are welcome.
